LUCAS Device Demonstrations
🌟 LUCAS Continuous Chest Compression
During our recent ACLS course in Blind River Ontario, Canada, we tackled a challenging scenario: a patient with moderate hypothermia in asystole. Hypothermia cardiac arrests can require chest compressions for up to 5 hours as the patient warms. In rural hospitals with limited staff, this is a huge challenge.
Enter the LUCAS chest compression system! This incredible device automates compressions, freeing up our team for other crucial tasks. Staff requested hands-on practice with the LUCAS to build their confidence. In this video, you'll see continuous compressions on a manikin with an advanced airway, and an intraosseous needle used due to difficulty in gaining IV access.
🙌 Huge thanks to the dedicated team for their hard work and commitment to improving patient care! 💪
