Heart of The Matter Manual - Exclusive Preview for our CNSA Workshop Attendees
This page provides a one-page preview from the Heart of the Matter manual that aligns with each station you’re practicing today.
Airway Management
To Air Is Human, a chapter in The Heart of the Matter, introduces the essential skills needed to open and maintain an airway. You'll learn basic maneuvers like the head tilt–chin lift and jaw thrust, how to insert oral and nasopharyngeal airways, and the role of common advanced airway devices. At the CNSA Airway Practice station, you'll apply these skills hands-on by opening an airway and delivering effective rescue breaths with an ambu bag using both adult and infant manikins–building confidence and readiness for real clinical situations.

Rhythm Interpretation
To Beat or Not To Beat, a chapter in The Heart of the Matter, introduces common normal, abnormal, and life-threatening cardiac rhythms and outlines the appropriate interventions for each. The focus is on recognizing what you're seeing, understanding why it matters, and knowing what action to take. At the CNSA conference, you'll apply the knowledge gained by using the provided materials to identify and interpret 12 key cardiac rhythm strips at the Cardiac Rhythm QUIZ Station.

ACLS
The Shocking Truth, a chapter in The Heart of the Matter, explores how to manage life-threatening arrhythmias using defibrillation, cardioversion, and pacing. You'll learn not just how the interventions work, but when and why to use them. At the CNSA conference, you'll put this into practice two ways: at the Cardiac Arrest Skills Station, working as a team during a simulated Code Blue, and at the ACLS QUIZ Station, applying three ACLS algorithms to case scenarios to decide the best interventions.

ECG
What a Pain, a chapter in The Heart of the Matter, covers Acute Coronary Syndrome: how to assess it, diagnose it, understand its types, locate the infarct, recognize complications, and know the treatments. At the CNSA conference, the STEMI QUIZ STATION will give you the opportunity to apply this knowledge by using the provided materials to identify ST-segment changes and determine the location of the infarct.
